Ancient Aliens Season 16, Episode 3:
The Galactic Keyhole
Ancient Aliens’ Season 16, Episode 3, entitled “The Galactic Keyhole”, ponders over the recurring appearance of a mysterious keyhole shape in ancient texts and the sacred architecture of numerous civilizations.
Could there be a secret message hidden behind these strange keyhole shapes, sent by beings from outer space?
In Waterford, Virginia, in the year 2013, an institutional researcher stumbled upon a strange and mysterious object while looking through photographs of Mars. Upon close inspection, he determined that this mysterious object had the shape of a keyhole. Even more striking was the fact that this shape bore perfect symmetry.
When looking at various objects in outer space, the most important way of distinguishing natural phenomena from objects that were artificially crafted is to look for symmetry. The more symmetric an object, the more likely it is to have been made by someone or something. Could this mysterious, perfectly symmetrical keyhole shape protruding from Mars have been made by extraterrestrials beings?
Strange keyhole shapes are not only found in outer space, but also in various place on our very own planet. In Osaka, Japan, there is a megalithic tomb called the Daisenryo Kofun. This architectural structure is 1600 feet long and 980 feet wide, and is shaped like an enormous keyhole. Intriguingly, there are hundreds of smaller keyhole-shaped structures, called kofun, all over Osaka. The history of the first of these structures begins with Japan’s first emperor, Nintoku. According to ancient Japanese tradition, a woman once entered a sacred place through a keyhole. Inside, she was impregnated by a divine being, and afterwards gave birth to a semi-divine being, the Emperor Nintoku, who would become the ruler of Japan. Were the Emperors of Japan semi-divine beings created by these mysterious keyhole structures? Or were these keyholes designed after our ancestors came in contact with extraterrestrial beings?
Recently, in the oasis of Khaybar, Saudi Arabia, a group of archaeologists found a series of stone structures, 19 of which, remarkably, are in the shape of keyholes. Archaeologists believe these structures to be over 1000 years old.
The shape of a keyhole consists of a circle and a triangle. The circle, for some, represents the sun, the moon, and other extraterrestrial objects, whereas the triangle serves as a representation of the earth. Could the keyhole shape be a symbol indicating some sort of connection between the heavens and the earth?
Keyhole-shaped objects can be found all over the world, including Peru, Algeria, Mexico, and the American South West. In ancient Egyptian art, the moon goddess, Hathor, is often depicted wearing a special necklace called a menat, which is shaped like a keyhole surrounded by beads. In addition to the moon, Hathor is associated with the protection of the earth, and with advanced technology.
In Italy, there was once an ancient civilization whose members are known as the Nuragic Sardinians. These ancient people left no textual evidence of their existence, but did leave a lot of amazing structures behind. Out of these is a very famous structure known today as the Well of Santa Christina, or the Nuragic Holy Well. This water well was constructed with the utmost precision, giving rise to the following question: how could a civilization which didn’t leave behind any texts have had enough knowledge to construct such an amazing engineering marvel?
Interestingly, The Well of Santa Christina is used to track the phases of the moon, particularly when the moon is at its brightest, which happens every 18 years or so.
In 2018, a water well very similar in structure to that of the Well of Santa Christina was discovered in India about 4000 miles away. Could these structures somehow be related to each other? A few interesting connections between the two wells include the number 18 and their lunar associations. The well in India has 18 steps, and the well of Santa Christian is used to track an occurrence of the moon which takes place every 18 years. The design and construction of both wells is also remarkably similar, which has led many people to question whether these wells came into being by the hand of the same creator.
Another example of the keyhole shape can also be found in the stupa, a Buddhist sepulcher in which human bodies and sacred artifacts were interred. A stupa looks like a keyhole, or like the shape of a spacecraft.
The significance of the keyhole can also be found in religious texts. For example, in Hebrew sacred scripture, it is said that King Solomon, in the 10th Century, was given a ring by God through which he controlled supernatural creatures called jinns. These jinns helped Solomon create his famous First Temple of Jerusalem, and influenced the architecture of his tribe. Interestingly, this ring is often depicted as having a peculiar keyhole-shape, which raises questions about the supposed divinity of this shape. The temple that Solomon constructed with the help of the jinns was built to protect secrets, and consisted of many secrets tunnels and passageways. This temple was later destroyed, only to be rebuilt again. During the temple’s reconstruction, it is said that the builders stumbled upon the secrets of the First Temple. Some say that these secrets appear in the designs of Europe’s greatest architectural masterpieces.
In Rome, Italy, in the year 1667, Saint Peter’s Square was designed by the great architect and sculptor, Gian Lorenzo Bernini. What’s intriguing about Saint Peter’s Square is that it does not actually form the shape of a square, but rather that of a keyhole. Some believe that Bernini’s decision to design the square in this shape stems from an effort to demonstrate that people are welcome in Saint Peter’s Square. Could there be more to Bernini’s keyhole-shaped design than meets the eye?
Some say that the significance of the keyhole can also be found in Christian tradition. The Holy Grail is said to be in the shape of a keyhole, similar to Solomon’s ring. It is said that this grail represents a marriage between heaven and earth, and that it has the power to alter the composition of elements.
With the 2013 discovery of a keyhole shape on Mars, questions regarding the divinity of this shape have arisen. Could the keyhole shape tell us something about our past and our future? Could this divine shape unlock the secrets of the universe?
